Birgunj

Birgunj, located in proximity to Bihar, an Indian state on the southern border of Nepal, is a border town and an entry point to the Kingdom of Nepal from Patna and Calcutta. The town has significant economic importance for Nepal as a large part of goods imported by Nepal reaches Terai regions, Kathmandu Valley, and other parts of Nepal through the international border entry points of Raxaul, on Indian side, to Birgunj on Nepalese side for onward transportation to other parts of Nepal.
Birgunj is a town of around 300,000 people of different ethnic and linguistic groups. There are several languages spoken in the town including [Bhojpuri, [Nepali]], Maithili, Newari, and Hindi. It is the biggest city in Narayani zone and the headquarter of Parsa district. This city is also known as the 'gate way of Nepal'.
