Birdy (Gundam SEED)

Birdy, known as Torii or Tori in the Japanese version, is a fictional robotic pet in the mecha anime series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny owned by Kira Yamato. Birdy is voiced by Naomi Shindou who also voices Cagalli Yula Athha, and by Tabitha St. Germain in the English version.

About three years prior to CE 71, the year of the Bloody Valentine War, Birdy was created by Athrun Zala, a childhood friend of Kira Yamato as a robotic pet. This event takes place two years before the fall of Junius Seven, in which the Earth Alliance fired a nuclear weapon at Junius Seven, which was one of the PLANTS in which Coordinators lived in. The PLANT was destroyed, causing ZAFT and Civilians wanting revenge.

The first time we see Birdy in the series, he is with Kira Yamato at the college Kira attends. He is accompanying Kira, but Birdy leaves later on for an unknown reason. Birdy is shown throughout the series, in various episodes and is a symbol of Kira and Athrun's friendship. Birdy is, nonetheless a minor character, but is an important part in the two series.
