Binky Barnes

Binky Barnes is one of the many characters on the children's television series Arthur.
[edit] Overview
Binky is an anthropomorphized bulldog. He is nine years old and is repeating the third grade. He appears to be a big tough guy but has a softer side that he attempts to hide. His interests are varied, including everything from monster flicks to classical ballet.
His clarinet talent is the subject of several episodes, including one in which he instigates a rivalry with Sue Ellen over parts in a school recital and another in which conspires to sabotage his friends' efforts to earn spots in the local youth symphony because his clarinet no longer works.
Though Binky's reputation is that of a bully and he hangs out with the tough 4th graders, it is revealed in one episode that he has never hit anyone. The 4th graders challenge him to do so, and he knocks over Arthur, and the consequences of this action leave him feeling remorseful. In another episode, it is revealed that Binky is afraid of the dark and has nightmares if he does not sleep with his nightlight.
In one episode of the show, he was accused of vandalism after BINKY was spraypainted around his town. Eventually everyone figured out that the graffiti was a promotion for Binky, a band coming to perform in the town soon.
