BIMST-EC is the acronym for Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand - Economic Cooperation. This ia a new regional group made up of countries lying around the Bay of Bengal, established in 1997 as a sub-regional grouping to link South Asia with Southeast Asia.

The first summit of this group will be held at Bangkok, Thailand and will be attended by Dr. Manmohan Singh of India. The name of the organisation may be changed at the summit, for example to the Bay of Bengal Community.
