Talk:Billiards table

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have made significant changes and additions to this article but its is still a mess and needs lots of work. If you edit this before I get back to it, note the overuse of the word "typical" or "typically". I am a professional pool player and write articles under the name "Pool_Teacher" in the pool/billiards category at allexperts.com. --user: fuhghettaboutit December 11, 2005

[edit] Merger

I think Pocket (billiards) should be merged into this article, what's the point of having it seperate? We can just mention that some tables don't have pockets or returns. 128.6.176.51 20:34, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Huh?? Why on earth would you merge an article about an entire class of sports/games into an article about one piece of equipment relating to those games? That's like saying "chess should be merged into pawn". As for a merge the other way around, not going to happen. The billliards, and pocket billiards articles are already far too long, and have a clear consensus on further splits into more detailed articles about various aspects (game rules, equipment, terminology, notable persons, etc., etc.) And further, the article on pool tables is just a stub anyway - all kinds of information, e.g. on how such tables are constructed, their history, etc., has yet to be added. An encyclopedically-complete article on this topic would be much longer than the extant one. — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 14:19, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
