Bilton, Wetherby

Bilton-in-Ainsty is a village in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire in England. It is situated about three miles east of Wetherby and nine miles west of York. It is part of the civil parish of Bilton-in-Ainsty with Bickerton. Famous inhabitants include guitarist Jony Matthews, the self-styled bad-boy of guitar-based rock. Matthews later dedicated his seminal album Fists of Retribution to the villagers of Bilton who supported him through his difficult early years, notably providing an intervention when his addiciton to marzipan threatened to destroy his career.
