[edit] Plot
[edit] Episode
Santa (voiced by Gilbert Gottfried) has been bitten by a vampire — not by the Head Vampire, but actually by the Head Head Vampire. It's up to Billy, Mandy, and Grim to save Santa before Christmas is ruined! Mandy and Grim team up with Head Vampire Baron Von Ghoulish (voiced by Malcolm McDowell) to save Christmas. Meanwhile Billy is helping Mrs. Claus (voiced by Carol Kane) and the elves around the workshop. When Mandy, Grim, and Baron get back to the workshop, they try to cheer up Mrs. Santa but are instead trapped in the basement with vampire Santa. Five minutes too late Baron remembers Mrs. Claus is the Head Head Vampire. Now they must save Santa, and stop the Head Head Vampire and her army of vampire bat elves. Baron runs in fear and hides in a Christmas tree. Grim is attacked by vampire bat elves, and Mandy faces off with the Head Head Vampire. Meanwhile, Billy is wandering around the workshop and finds the Vampire Antidote (it's cookies and milk). He gives it to Santa, who then returns to normal. Sperg (who has been throwing snowballs at the characters the whole episode whenever someone says something corny) is attacked by the vampire bat elves(this story was the origin of "Larry Potta saves the christmas).
[edit] Ending credits
It's early Christmas morning and Mandy and Grim are downstairs, near the christmas tree. Grim dives into the presents and unwraps them with sheer speed. He receives a new scythe and Mandy gets coal, which she uses as ammo to lob at Grim. Santa rides away in his sleigh with Billy, (in a role similar to Rudolph's) guiding it back to the North Pole.
The song that plays throughout the credits is Ratt's Round and Round.
[edit] Cultural References
- When Mandy is about to fight Mrs. Claus the "Head Head" vampire, Mrs. Claus turns into her Horrid form, this may be a parody of the Castlevania.
- At the beginning, Mandy says Ebenezer Scrooge's trademark line, "Bah humbug," from Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol. After that, she is stepped on by the animated foot from Monty Python's Flying Circus.
- After Billy, Mandy, and Grim jump through the portal to the North Pole, they see an upside-down Luke Skywalker being hung by a Wampa creature, a recreation of the scene from The Empire Strikes Back. The show also frequently makes other references to Star Wars (particularly an episode where Grim and Hoss Delgado duel with red and green lightsabers while the house is being surrounded by zombies).
- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer references:
- Mrs. Claus says vampire Santa was trying to drink the blood of "that poor elf that wanted to be a dentist" a reference to Hermie, the misfit elf.
- In the basement of Santa's house where "demented toys" are kept, there is a group of Jack-in-the-boxes called "Charlie-in-the-Boxes", after the famous misfit toy.
- When Baron Von Ghoulish is brushing his teeth, he is humming and singing the song "Singin' in the Rain"; Malcolm McDowell (the voice of the Baron) infamously sang this song in A Clockwork Orange.
- When Mandy complains that Christmas is a big set-up for video-game profits, she mentions parodies of such games as "Halo 2" (as "Hello 2"), Grand Theft Auto (as "PTA") and World of Warcraft (as "World of Dork Crud").
- The ending credits suggest that Billy is Jewish when he mentions that he celebrates Hanukkah. This was a surprise and they're obviously not Orthodox, as neither Billy nor his dad wear a yarmulka.
- When Santa pops out of the coffin, he yells, "I will swallow your soul!" (a repeated line from the Evil Dead movies)
