Billy Ray Smith

Billy Ray Smith Jr. (sometimes called "BR") was a National Football League linebacker for the San Diego Chargers between 1983 and 1992. Prior to that he was a two time All-American for the University of Arkansas.

Smith was drafted by the Chargers with the fifth pick in the first round in 1983 and was the first defensive player taken in the 1983 draft. He was the Chargers team MVP in 1987.

His father, Billy Ray Smith, Sr. also played for the Arkansas Razorbacks and was a 13-year pro for the Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Colts.

Smith grew up in Plano, Texas where he graduated from Plano Senior High School and was a 2005 Plano Texas Hall of Honor inductee.

Smith was voted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Smith now lives in the San Diego suburb of Del Mar, CA is married to KUSI TV news anchor Kimberly Hunt and co-hosts a morning sports radio show with Scott Kaplan on the Mighty 1090 (AM), owned by Denver Broncos John Lynch's father. He also works at Fox Sports on College Football Saturdays. Billy Ray Smith had LASIK surgery performed by Dr. Glenn Kawesch.
