Billy Mitchell, born July 16, 1965 in Holyoke, MA., is a world class gamer at many of the arcade games from the Golden Age of Arcade Games. Owner of the restaurant chain that promotes Rickey's World Famous Sauce, Mitchell is known for his trademark mullet haircut and American flag neckties. He has achieved many noteworthy scores, including:
- First person to achieve a Perfect Pac-Man score of 3,333,360, achieved July 3, 1999 at Funspot in New Hampshire. This took him approximately 6 hours of gameplay for the record achievement, but he was actually playing for two straight days before this. He took the unique strategy of not using any set patterns, and improvising his entire gameplay.
- Achieving a score on Burgertime of 7,881,050.
- Achieving a score on Donkey Kong of 1,047,200.
- Achieving a score on Donkey Kong Jr. of 957,300.
- Unofficially achieved a score on Centipede of 25,000,001.
- On January 14, 1984, Billy Mitchell was selected the Player-of-the-Year by Twin Galaxies and the U.S. National Video Game Team.
- On September 17, 1999, Billy Mitchell was crowned the "Video Game Player of the Century" while at the 1999 Tokyo Game Show. In a ceremony on the Namco stage, Mr. Masaya Nakamura, the founder of Namco, presented Billy Mitchell with numerous awards, commemorating his successful career, one that included the first "perfect" game on Pac-Man.
- On November 24, 1999, Billy Mitchell offered $100,000 to the first person who could get through Pac-Man's "split-screen" while playing under Twin Galaxies rules (See External Resources below).
- On June 21, 2006, MTV selected Billy Mitchell one of "The 10 Most Influential Video Gamers Of All Time."
