Billy McCracken

Billy or Bill McCracken (Born in Belfast January 29, 1883 , died 1979) was an association football player , who played for the English club Newcastle United from 1904 to 1924, helping them win three League titles and the FA Cup. It is claimed his playing tactics were responsible for a change in the offside rule. McCracken was so adept at catching the opposing teams forwards offside that he forced a change in the rules of the game.

Bill McCracken, went on to be Hull City manager and he took Hull to the FA Cup semi-final in 1930.

He later managed Gateshead F.C., Millwall F.C. and Aldershot Town.
