Billy Joe Cuthbert is an fictional American basketball player who promotes Sony's NBA The Life video game. Cuthbert first made his appearance known in 2005 through a website called "Dontbethenext.com" where he chronicled his "history" in the NBA. Cuthbert is a parody, rather than a real player, created for marketing purposes. He is very similar to former NBA player Kurt Rambis.
[edit] Bio
"Not the most physically gifted of players, Billy Joe hustled his way into the starting line-up of the Utah Jazz for a brief time during the '89-'91 seasons. Always giving 117%, Billy Joe was mostly known for diving for loose balls, taking charges and fouling out. But due to his physical play he was plagued by injuries and his lackluster NBA career ended prematurely. Currently Billy Joe is seeking to play professionally in Europe and Latin America."[citation needed]
He was a 2nd round Draft pick in 1980 out of Indiana Polytechnic Junior College. Playing shooting guard, Cuthbert was in the NBA for a little over a season. As of recently he has been challenging the Lakers' Kobe Bryant to a game of one on one to settle an issue regarding the cover of the new Sony basketball game. The issue is being promoted at a website named "MambaVSMongoose.com". Cuthbert has given himself the nickname of "Mongoose"
