Billie-Jo Jenkins

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Billie-Jo Jenkins was a 13-year-old girl from East Sussex in the United Kingdom who was murdered on 15 February 1997. She was brought up in east London and fostered by Lois and Sion Jenkins at the age of nine. Until her death, she attended Helenswood School in Hastings.

Her foster father Sion Jenkins was originally convicted of her murder in 1998, failing in an appeal in 1999, but a retrial was ordered by the court of appeal in 2004. The jury in that retrial, which lasted for three months in 2005, was unable to reach a verdict and a second retrial was held. The second retrial ended when the second jury was also unable to reach a verdict (9 February 2006) and Sion Jenkins was formally acquitted.
