Billiard room
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A billiard room is a room with a billiard or pool table. It is best when such a room has enough space around the table to accommodate the range of a stroke of the pool cue from all angles. This can be calculated by adding the length of the average cue stick (about 59-60 inches) and about 12 inches for stroking room. If you assume that the cue ball can be on any rail of the table, calculating the size of the billiard room is simple. Simply add the 12 feet or 144 inches ( 2 X (60 + 12)= 144 inches) to the size of the intended pool table to guarantee an unobstructed stroke while playing. This does not account for couches, chairs, stools, bars or any furniture that could be present int he billiard room or game room.
For a 3.5 by 7 foot pool table, the minimum size room is 15.5 feet by 19 feet.
For a 4 by 8 foot pool table, the minimum size room is 16 feet by 20 feet.
For a 4.5 by 9 foot pool table, the minimum size room is 16.5 feet by 20.5 feet.
