William D. (Bill) Young (born 6 June 1931) is a former Australian rules footballer in the VFL.

Young was an all-round sportsman — a top goal scorer in country football; a cricketer who once top-scored for a Victorian country team against England and also a cyclist.

Young, (Height: 179 cm, Weight: 73 kg) played with St Kilda a full forward kicking 56 goals in his debut year, winning the VFL's Coleman Medal goalkicking award. He also topped St Kilda's goal-kicking table 1956-60.

Blair Campbell credited him with inventing the reverse punt shot at goal.

As Bill's daughter I have seen him perform this kick, which calls the Banana Kick, and have heard the story many times from himself and other relatives how he invented this as a teenager playing for the Victorian country side Stratford. Verifibly, there is film footage of him using this kick during games in the 1950's.
