Bill Plaschke

William P. Plaschke (born September 6, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American journalist who has written for the Los Angeles Times since 1987. In 1980, he received a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois. Currently, Plaschke is one of the panelists on the sports-themed show Around the Horn on ESPN. He is a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America and the Professional Football Writers Association.

In his career as a sportswriter, Plaschke has been named National Sports Columnist of the Year by the Associated Press and has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Plaschke is known for his heartwarming portraits of sports figures. He is also known for his fervent crusade against sabermetrics, and former Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta in particular.
