Bill Dooley was a head football coach, most notably of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels from 1967 to 1977. He won three Atlantic Coast Conference titles, all at North Carolina, and coached his teams to nine bowl games total. He is tied for 2nd in most total wins at North Carolina and first in most seasons at the school. He also acheieved the schools first 11-1 season in 1972, which has only been accomplished twice at the school since. He also served as the head coach at Virginia Tech where he is currently 2nd in both total wins and winning percentage. He served as the head coach of Wake Forest University where, as of November 2006, he is 3rd in the school's history for all-time wins and tied for 3rd in longest tenure.
