[edit] White Lipped Tree Frog

What a beautiful shot of the White lip, thanks so much for the contribution. Is he a pet? --liquidGhoul 13:19, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Not exactly a pet, he just lives on the balcony. bignoter 14:24, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Even better, you can enjoy watching (photographing) a beautiful frog, and he can enjoy living free :). Do you have other frog species photos? --liquidGhoul 14:31, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey bignoter, your white lipped photo is currently a candidate for featured picture. Some people are having a problem with the size. Would you be able to upload a larger version? --liquidGhoul 10:44, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Certainly. The original photo is 7 megapixel, but unfortunately I will not be able to upload it before Feb 25. bignoter 22:49, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Midazolam

Not sure if you looked on my talk page, but Colin Harkness pointed out something which I had been overlooking: bioavailability differs depending on the administration route. With I.V. injections, bioavailability is by definition 100%. I.M. injections are generally only slightly less.

You were correct though, that the bioavailability for an oral dose of midazolam is just under 40%. Drugbank lists it as 36%, so I've changed the page to reflect this. I've also added the intramuscular bioavailability, as the I.M. injection is one of the most common routes of administration.

Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy, by the way. Let me know if you see any other information on the benzodiazepine pages that seems spurious.

[edit] Frog FPC

The nomination period for the White lipped tree frog has ended, and I'm afraid the larger version came too late. LiquidGhoul has said that he may nominate the larger version again, or you could nominate it yourself if you feel it is suitable. Raven4x4x 10:04, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tramadol

Thanks for the message. Things are never simple in pharmacology, unfortunately. =) I had a quick look at the Micromedex Drugdex monograph, which quotes details from a review by Shipton (2000) (PMID 10969362):

  1. The (+) enantiomer of tramadol and its major metabolite bind more strongly to the mu-opioid receptor than the respective (-) enantiomers
  2. The opioid and 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) reuptake inhibitory effect is about 4 times more potent in the (+) enantiomer, whereas the noradrenaline reuptake inhibitory effect is in the (-) enantiomer

So I guess you're right about NAd reuptake, but both enantiomers have some μ-opioid and 5-HT reuptake activity. I'll update the article to reflect this information. -Techelf 10:39, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
