What is written after each "=" affects what is displayed on an article when it is viewed.

hmpage

By default, housemates' names automatically link to a section in the article that the template is used in. This can be changed by typing the name of another article here, without square brackets.

seriesname

The name of the Big Brother series should be typed here and linked to the relevant article, i.e. [[Big Brother (Australia)|Big Brother Australia]].

seriesnum

The number of the season should be put here, i.e. 2001, or Series 1 (2001).

image

The season's logo should go here. The image name should be typed here, with Image:, but without square brackets or other image modifications, i.e. Image:BB06.JPG. Images are automatically sized to 137px.

imagebg

A background colour for the image can be defined here, but should only be used if the image has a solid background colour.

hmxx

This is where a housemate's name should be written. It is by default automatically linked to a section in the article that this template is used in, but this can be changed with hmpage.

hmxx-enter

The day that a housemate entered the Big Brother House should be here, written as Day x. If the housemate previously left and re-entered the House, it should be written as Day x<br />Day z or Days x/z.

hmxx-exit

The day that a housemate left the House should be written here as Day x. If the housemate previously left and re-entered the House, it should be written as Day xx<br />Day z or Days x/z.

hmxx-veto

Power of Veto is a special competition used in Big Brother USA articles. To show that a housemate has acquired Power of Veto, [[Image:No_sign.svg|16px]] should be placed here. The image can be replaced with anything else, including text, but the size of the image is optimised for the column widths.

hmxx-stat

The current status of a housemate goes here.

• nom - Up for eviction
• evic - Evicted
• three - The third colour, described below
• none - The housemate is not affected by anything. It is imperative that something is in the -stat field, otherwise the box will appear as white.

legendnom

By default, this appears as "Up for Eviction" on an article. It is thought that this can be used for all seasons of Big Brother, but if it needs to be changed it can be by writing something here.

By default, this appears as "Not in House".
