Big Brother Australia 2002 was the second season of the Australian reality television series Big Brother Australia. The season started on April 8, 2002 and ended on July 1, 2002, lasting 85 days.
Big Brother 2002 was very similar to Big Brother 2001, the first series; and was the only one to use the same house from a previous series, albeit with some small superficial modifications. Simultaneous with the main house was a house of six potential Intruders. A number of television specials allowed viewers to get to know the intruders and viewers were able to vote which three actually went into the house.
A close relationship formed between Nathan Martin and Jessica Hardy (Marty and Jess) who later married. Their wedding plans and the ceremony were showcased in television special Marty & Jess: An Outback Wedding. The couple separated in late 2005.
The Australian rock band Killing Heidi entered the house for a special surprise birthday party for Jess. During an Eviction, a 25 year old male ran naked onto the stage and was subsequently fined $100 in court.
The reserved Peter Corbett won the $250,000 first prize, with Marty coming second.

He has also been an active charity supporter, assisting Banardos Australia and becoming an ambassador for Daffodil Day.
[edit] Nicole
A video producer, Nicole Dickmann was one of the three intruders voted into house by viewers. She was evicted several days later in a vote held by the housemates; the Intruders were required to put their case for staying to the housemates prior to this vote and Dickmann truthfully indicated that she was unhappy in the house and hoped to be evicted.
[edit] Jessica
Jessica Hardy became well known during her time in the house for her relationship with Marty, a relationship which led to their marriage outside of the house after the season ended. They are now divorced. Her brother was killed in the 2002 Bali bombing.
[edit] Damian
Damian Hoo, a teaching student at the time of entering the House and currently a professional rugby player, quickly started a relationship with Miribai, who already had a boyfriend outside of the house. Much later she started a relationship with intruder Brodie. His father, Chan, was briefly involved in the show and gave his eviction predictions until Damiam left the House in the season's first Eviction on Day 14. Currently plays rugby for a team in QLD
[edit] Sahra
Sahra Kearney was evictee # 12. The last female left in the house behind Marty. She was know for instigating other housemates into wild games and never fell short of surprises. Aside from working as a Investment Consultant, Sahra was an actress that had appeared on several TV series and commercials around Australia. Her talent in acting lead her into several Feature Films across Australia and Europe. She now has interest from the US market and plans to continue her acting career in the USA
[edit] Marty
The runner-up of Big Brother 2002, Nathan Martin was most well-known for his relationship with Jess, which he started even though he had a girlfriend outside the house, who he hadn't even told that he was going on Big Brother. Marty's aunt, Sciona Browne, was the runner-up contestant on Australian Survivor, which co-incidentally was aired at the same time as Big Brother 2002 but on rival Nine Network.
[edit] Katrina
Katrina Miani is a legal secretary from Melbourne. Was informed by Big Brother that her goldfish had died, leading to speculation that this was a coded message telling her that certain nude photographs of her had resurfaced. She was known for crying a lot.
[edit] Nathan
Nathan Morris grew up in Kalgoorlie. During his time on Big Brother he institgated, with Alex, a housemate rebellion where all housemates agreed to intentionally fail the weekly task and act in an insubordinate manner. He also instigated an exclusive clique involving Alex, Keiran, Sahra but excluding Marty, Jess, Brodie, Mirabai. At around this time, Big Brother elected to put all housemates up for eviction, and hold a double eviction that week. Nathan and Alex were evicted. He moved to Perth permanently after his stint on Big Brother to become a presenter on Perth radio station Nova 93.7, a role he still holds as of 2006.
[edit] Mirabai
Mirabai Peart was a musician who quickly started a relationship with fellow housemate Damien, even though she had a boyfriend on the outside. After Damien was evicted she started a relationship with intruder Brody. She brought her violin into the house and played it occasionally.
[edit] Kieran

His audition video featured him doing an opera version of the "Full Monty". Keiran became famous during the show for his beige underpants.
[edit] Brodie
Brodie Young entered the House as an Intruder from Melbourne voted into the house by viewers and retained after a housemate vote on which intruders to keep. Currently the host of the Quizmania late night game show on the Nine Network (as a rival to Hotdogs', from Big Brother 2005, The Up-Late Game Show).
[edit] Intruders
The six potential Intruders of Big Brother 2002 entered the Intruder House (hidden away in the Gold Coast Hinterland) at the same time the original housemates entered the Big Brother compound on Day 0. Handycam footage of the Intruder House aired during the Intruders special on Day 28, revealing that the group of six (Hayley, Nicki Cahill, Nicole, Will, Brodie and Keiran) had not been allowed any access to the outside world and for the past 28 days, their experiences mirrored the housemates' with a diary room available to them at all times, the six having to share a bathroom, the participation in mini-tasks set by Big Brother, and wild themed parties thrown for them. The edited down footage of the past month showed that the Intruders were feeling the effects of being in extended isolation, with many of them becoming paranoid and speculating that they were actually being tricked and they really were never going to get the chance to enter the main Big Brother house. The overnight voting after the six Intruders made their plea to the public to vote them into the main house, revealed that Nicki, Hayley and Will were going home and that Keiran would enter first, followed by Nicole and then Brodie on Day 29.
