[edit] Summary
A photograph of BIAMAX F600 trolleybus in Athens during test run. Source: old BIAMAX promotional material. In reference to the understandable requirement for proper use of images, and understanding Wikipedia's sensitivity, I would like to state the following:
I technically put "promotional" (and thus "copyrighted") in the licencing reference to keep the rules. I am a researcher of Greek industry, author of two relevant books ("Encyclopedia of Greek vehicles and aircraft" of 1994 and "Made in Greece" of 2003) and several key-figures of such Greek companies, including BIAMAX, are personal friends. The trolleybus image has been provided by the company and has appeared in different Greek publications. I can assure you that BIAMAX, a company long withdrawn from the automotive manufacturing business, has no problem with the use of such images promoting its past, as long as they are not disfigured. On the contrary, the achievements of this great company, once an industrial institution of Greece but still largely unknown abroad, should be promoted and that would be appreciated by those talented engineers who worked with BIAMAX.
Sincerely, L. Skartsis
[edit] Licensing
This is a copyrighted image that has been released by a company or organization to promote their work or product in the media, such as advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit.
The copyright for it is most likely owned by the company who created the promotional item or the artist who produced the item in question; you must provide evidence of such ownership. Lack of such evidence is grounds for deletion.
It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of promotional material
- to illustrate the work or product being discussed;
- where the image is unrepeatable, i.e. a free image could not be created to replace it;
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Copyrights for more information.
To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
