Bianca Ono was the winner of the 1989 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, as Miss Abuja.

This success occurred after she had returned to Nigeria after achieving a law degree in England. She immediately became a familiar face on Nigerian television and newspapers. A few months later she won as Nigeria's representative in the Miss Intercontinental pageant.

A few months into her reign as Miss Intercontinental, the pressure became too much and she resigned as Most Beautiful Girl and Miss Intercontinental. Ono was the first Nigerian woman to win a major international beauty pageant.

Later on, it emerged that she was by then dating Emeka Ojukwu, the controversial figure whose tactics had played a major role in bringing about the Nigerian Civil War in 1967-1970. The couple's traditional marriage in 2001 was the Nigerian society wedding of the year.
