Bhumika (Hindi: भुमिका, Urdu: بھُمِکا, also known as The Role in English) is a 1977 Indian movie directed by Shyam Benegal. The movie stars Smita Patil, Amol Palekar, Anant Nag, Naseeruddin Shah and Amrish Puri.

Bhumika tells the life story of a Bollywood actress, Usha (Patil), from her start in the business as a child to her tribulations as an adult. It is based on the life of the Marathi actress Hansa Wadkar. Usha is forced into the film industry as an actress from an early age due to family financial constraints. She has a flourishing career and becomes a big movie star, but her personal life remains a search for an elusive happiness and companionship. She experiences relationships with various men but remains alone at the end.
