Bhind

Bhind (Hindi-भिंड) is a town in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh state in central India. The town is the headquarters of Bhind District, and is located in the Chambal Division. It is named after the mythological Hindu saint Vibhandak Rishi or Bhindi Rishi. The population of Bhind town is 153,752 (2001 census).

Bhind district is surrounded by Datia District(M.P.), Gwalior District(M.P.), Etawah District (U.P.) and Jalaun District (U.P.). The main activity of the people is Agriculture. Musturd and Wheat are main crops of this district. Malanpur is the industrial area.

At present Dr RamLakhan singh Kushwah is a Member of Parliament (BJP) and Narendra Singh Kushwah is MLA (BJP).

Mr. Rameshwar Dayal Dantre who is renouned Freedom Fighter, two time MLA and head of Brahmin samaj lives in Mehgaon town of Bhind district.

The Famous Bandit Queen Phoolan Devi surrendered herself to then Chief Minister Shri Arjun Singh in 1982 IN bhind who is at present HRD Minister in Manmohan Singh Govt

The famous bandit GABBAR SINGH was killed in BHIND in 1965 on which Super-Duper hit film SHOlAY was made in 1976.
