Bharat Desai is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Syntel (NASDAQ: SYNT), a global provider of Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing services.

Bharat co-founded Syntel in 1980 and today, it is a “Partner of Choice” to the best known brands amongst Global 2000 corporations. Syntel currently employs over 7500 people globally and has a market capitalization in excess of $1 billion.

Bharat was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by The University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business and won the ‘IIT Alumnus of the Year’ award from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He was also the recipient of the ‘Michigan Entrepreneur Award’ from Harvard Business School and recognized as ‘Entrepreneur Of the Year’ by USA Today and NASDAQ.

Bharat is a Board Member of several illustrious educational institutions, including the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and Stephen M Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Bharat holds an MBA in finance from Stephen M Ross School of Business, University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, India.
