Bhaktisvarupa Damodar Swami (1937-2006), born Dr. T.D. Singh Ph.D., is the Director of the Bhaktivedanta Institute which promotes the study of the relationship between science and vedanta. He has organized international conferences on science & religion, and his focus is on the science of love of God, spiritual understanding & compassion.

Born in Manipur, India, in 1937, Bhaktisvarupa Damodar Swami overcame great hardship to eventually study at the University in California where he received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Since then he has been involved in dialogues with scientists and religious leaders such as the Dalai Lama in the quest for a scientific understanding of the world through the vedantic paradigm.

He organised the first ever World Conference for Synthesis of Science and Religion, where thousands of religious leaders and scientists gathered. His interest in science and spirituality has led to the setting up of a university in Manipur based on the scientific relevance of Bhagavad Gita and Vedanta in the welfare of humanity in the modern world.
