[edit] Plot
The film begins when a pipe layer named Chester (Cambridge) returns from the arctic and brings back with him a small sample of a mysterious frozen substance. He puts the strange material in his freezer, but his wife lets it thaw on the kitchen counter and the blob is revived. It starts by eating a fly, then a kitten, then Chester and his wife. Lisa (Gilford) watches as the alien organism consumes one of its victims, but cannot get anyone, even her boyfriend Bobby (Walker), to believe her. Meanwhile the rapidly-growing creature quietly preys upon the town. Some of its victims include a cop, two hippies, a barber (who charges one of his customers $400 for a haircut), and some transients (one of whom is played by director Hagman). The now-massive blob invades a skating rink and is finally stopped when Bobby activates the rink's ice mechanism, freezing it. At the very end of the movie, while being filmed by a television crew, a lamp is knocked over, melting a small portion, though no other sequel was made.

[edit] Trivia
- This is the only feature film to have been directed by Hagman. His only other directorial credits include episodes of the television programs Dallas, I Dream of Jeannie and In the Heat of the Night.
- Dean Cundey, who would later achieve great fame as a cinematographer for such films as Halloween (film), The Thing, and Jurassic Park (film), worked on Beware! The Blob as a camera operator.
- In an interview in Fangoria magazine screenwriter Anthony Harris stated that a good portion of the filmed material was improvised on the set and that the script was ignored.
- In 1982 the film was re-issued with the tagline "The film that J.R. shot!" in an attempt to capitalize on the success of Hagman's television series Dallas.
- Filmed in and around Diamond Bar, California and Pomona, California, both 50 miles east of Los Angeles.
