Beverly Johnson (born October 13, 1952 in Buffalo, New York) is a supermodel. She was the first African-American woman to appear on the cover of the French ELLE.
She is often referred to as the first African-American model on the cover of Vogue. But, in fact, Donyale Luna, who is considered one of the first African-American supermodels, was the first African-American model on the cover of the magazine. Beverly Johnson does, however, hold the honor of being the first Black woman on the cover of the American edition of the magazine.
Was honored by Oprah Winfrey in her Legends Ball special.
In 2006, the New York Post Page Six reported that she was being stalked by a former boyfriend in Los Angeles.[citation needed]
The July 4, 2006 edition on Page Six of the New York Post reported that Beverly is the leading contender to replace Star Jones-Reynolds on The View.[citation needed]
