Better Than Heaven was singer's Stacey Q first solo album after leaving the band SSQ. Even though she left the band she continued to work with her SSQ bandmates in her solo albums such as Better Than Heaven, Hard Machine, and Nights Like This. Better Than Heaven was Stacey Q's first solo album and has become the album that she is mostly known for.

The album released in 1986 gave Stacey Q and her former bandmates two mainstream hits: "Two of Hearts" and "We Connect". Both songs were promoted in the sitcom The Facts of Life where Stacey Q guest starred as the character "Cinammon". Two of Hearts was a the first song to be promoted on the sitcom. The song was a smashing hit, skyrocketing to the top of the Billboards Hot 100 where it made it to number #3. "We Connect" also went up the charts where it reached the Top 40, eventually peaking to number #23 on the charts.
