Bethany Britney Platt is a fictional character in the TV soap Coronation Street. She is played by twins Amy and Emily Walton.

Sarah-Louise Platt was just thirteen when she gave birth to Bethany on 4 June 2000. Just a few hours after her birth, Bethany was kidnapped by Alison, whose baby Jake had just died. Luckily, Alison and Bethany were found, but Alison tragically committed suicide after handing Bethany over.

Bethany was not a planned baby and Sarah tried to cope as best she could but she was still a young child herself. On one occasion, Sarah left her baby at home with only her brother David Platt, then aged just ten. She also kept Bethany a secret from her first boyfriend.

When Bethany was two, Sarah was in a car crash with rebel boyfriend Aidan Critchley and nearly died. When she survived, she vowed to make the most of her life and be a fantastic mother as Sarah realised just how much Bethany really did mean to her.

When Sarah's stepfather Richard Hillman tried to kill Sarah, Sarah's mum Gail Platt, David, Bethany and himself by driving the family car into the canal, Sarah escaped for the car, undid Bethany's seat belt and swam to safety with her. Gail and David also survived, however Richard himself died.

Much to grandma Gail's horror, Sarah and Bethany moved in with Sarah's boyfriend Todd Grimshaw, who treated Bethany like his own daughter. Bethany managed to electrocute herself but was thankfully okay. Sarah found out she was pregnant and looked forward to having a baby sibling for Bethany. Todd tried to kiss Sarah's older brother Nick Tilsley, which he admitted to Sarah who was willing to forgive him. However Todd later embarked on a gay affair and left Sarah, who went into an early labour with Bethany's brother Billy. For a while it looked like Billy was going to be okay but he died in hospital.

Bethany's father Neil Ferns, never met Bethany and took no interest in her however after his death his mother Brenda made contact with Bethany and started to look after her. Brenda had gone mad after the death of her son and planned to kill herself and Bethany so they could be with Neil. Luckily Emily Bishop found them in time. Bethany was rescued and Brenda taken away.

Sarah and Bethany are back living with Gail and David. For a while, Sarah's boyfriend Scooter lived there too, but Sarah has now finished her relationship with him. Much to the dismay of her mother and his, who felt that she had ruined Todd's life, Sarah had entered into a new relationship with Jason Grimshaw, Todd's brother. They were engaged, again to Gail and Eileen's dismay, but Jason walked out at the wedding.

Sarah tries hard to be a loving mother to Bethany, however feels she needs some excitement in her life and can be neglectful. Bethany has turned into a sweet, affectionate, loving little girl. She is now attending school and primarily looked after by grandma Gail.
