[edit] Eric's first love
While at school at Northwestern University, Beth Henderson had been in love with Eric Forrester (John McCook) and they were dating. After their relationship ended, due to Stephanie Douglas (Susan Flannery) roping Eric into marriage because she was pregnant (with Ridge Forrester (Ronn Moss), who wasn't even Eric's son); she married Stephen Logan (Patrick Duffy). Stephen and Beth had four children, Storm (William deVry); Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang); Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and youngest daughter, Katie (Nancy Sloan).
Before the show began, Stephen had deserted Beth and the children, as he felt that he would never measure up to Eric. Beth had gained a job as a caterer and so she and Brooke had catered a party that Stephanie had set up for one of the fashion shows.
This allowed Eric to reconnect with Beth, whom he had always loved. Stephanie, desperate to keep Eric away from Beth, contacted Stephen, who was estranged from her, to come back into their lives. Stephanie also convinced Bill Spencer (James Storm) to give Stephen a job in Paris, to keep Beth as far away from Eric as she could.
Despite all this, Beth has always loved Eric and wishes he was still in her life.
