I am a sociologist with a wide range of interests. I am a person of color, whose father is European and whose mother is Brazilian. I am writing a book on European consolidation, and may in the future adapt some of my ideas for an article here. Throughout the discussion on whether revision or consolidation should be the next priority for the European social model, I generally opt for revision, and did indeed argue in favor of the new European Constitution.

In my view, the Constitution guaranteed a socially-conscious market economy, a bill of fundamental human rights, an affirmation of the character of shared economic interests, and a new paradigm for European social dialogue. I also believe that social and political realities made the new Constitution necessary, due to the particularities of the function of the state within the context of European society. I am also interested in the strategies of the various European governments in advocating ratification of the Constitution.

One of my core beliefs is that human beings presently are in the grip of a high crisis, one of the most sogiologically meaningful of all history. This is the crisis of the capitalistic world system, which is characterized by asymmetrical relationships between the accumulation of capital, the functioning of global markets, and the structure of political hierarchies. This crisis has come to locate itself in ideological, military, political and economic spheres. In discussing the crisis of world capitalism, I prefer to argue that the true faces of globalization are imperialism and conflict.

However--assuming you are still with me!--I plan on editing around Wikipedia, adding little bits of my knowledge to articles on history, politics, literature, culture and, of course, sociology, as the whim and fancy strike me.
