Beryllium telluride

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beryllium telluride is a chemical compound of beryllium and tellurium. It is a crystalline solid with face centred cubic symmetry, lattice constant 0.5615 nm. The density is 5.1 g cm3. The CAS number is [12232-27-8] [1].

It is a semiconductor with a large energy gap of around 3 eV.

Toxic hydrogen telluride gas is evolved on exposure to water.

Toxicity is unknown, but both beryllium and tellurium are toxic.
