Beryl Shipley

Beryl Cylde Shipley (born August 10, 1926, in Kingsport, Tennessee) was an American basketball coach. He was a longtime coach at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he broke the color barrier at that school. Later he would coach the ABA's San Diego Conquistadors, in 1975, replacing the infamous Alex Groza who was fired midway through the season.
