Beruna

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beruna is a fictional location in Narnia in C. S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia. At various times in the chronology of the series, it has been a ford and a town, with the town developing around the ford. In the later years of Narnia, it is one of the four known towns, alongside Beaversdam, Cair Paravel and Chippingford.

The original Fords of Beruna over the Great River of Narnia existed as early as the arrival of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie in Narnia, and featured in the war between the White Witch and the Narnian forces. During the reign of the four Pevensies in Narnia, it remained of strategic importance, though no town was built, and the Pevensies later expressed surprise to see a town at the location.

At some point after the return of the Pevensies to Earth, likely after Narnia was conquered by the Telmarines, a town was built at the Fords of Beruna and a bridge over the river was constructed. In Prince Caspian, Susan and Lucy accompany Aslan to the bridge, reawaken the river god, and Bacchus destroys it.
