Bernard Zylstra

Bernard Zylstra (1934-1986) was principal of the Institute for Christian Studies, Toronto, where he taught political theory from 1968.

He received an LL.B. degree from the University of Michigan and a S.J.D. from the Free University in Amsterdam, where he studied under Herman Dooyeweerd. His dissertation was on the political theory of Harold Laski.

He was the editor of Dooyeweerd's Roots of Western Culture (1979) and co-editor of L. Kalsbeek's Contours of Christian Philosophy (1975).

He is the brother of Uko Zylstra, professor of biology at Calvin College.
