Bernard W. Nussbaum

Bernard W. Nussbaum was White House Counsel under Bill Clinton, and during his tenure was accused of being involved in Filegate.

Nussbaum graduated from Columbia College in 1958, and from Harvard Law School in 1961. He then became an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. He joined the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in 1966, about one year after the founding of the firm and is, as of 2006, still a partner in that firm. In 1974, he was a senior member of the staff of the House Judiciary Committee investigating the Watergate scandal. During that period he worked closely with Hillary Rodham Clinton. In 1994, he became counsel to the President when Rodham Clinton was First Lady.

As of 2006, he is a member of the board of the Drum Major Institute.
