Bermuda shorts
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bermuda Shorts are a particular type of short trousers. They are popular in Bermuda and, unusually in business, are acceptable (even encouraged) for work and other occasions where full length trousers would normally be deemed appropriate.
Shorts when worn for such purposes should be around one inch above the knee, and accompanied by calf length socks, a formal shirt, tie, and blazer.
They are available in a variety of colours, including many pastel shades as well as darker shades similar to long trouser suits.
Various tourist books and other websites claim the shorts to have been invented by the British Armed Forces operating in India where troops cut their trousers to help cope with the heat.
Bermuda shorts are not to be confused with "clam diggers" or "capri pants". Both of these extend below the knee cap. It has also been said that shorts which are not loose around the leg are NOT Bermuda shorts, but these types of shorts are unnamed as of yet. They should look flattering and unassuming when worn by men or women.
