Berlin Transmediale International Media Arts Festival

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Berlin Transmediale International Media Arts Festival, which focuses on art and digital culture, is a forum promoting communication between artists, media workers and the public. Transmediale includes exhibitions, conferences, live performances, artist presentations and a variety of fringe events throughout Berlin, Germany. The Festival, which was founded originally as a video art festival, has taken place annually, in Berlin, ever since 1988.

First conceived in close relation to the Berlin Film Festival, the festival changed its name from VideoFest to Transmediale in 1997/98, thus reflecting the fact that it had broadened to encompass a wide range of multimedia-related art forms.
