Berbere

Berbere (Ge'ez: በርበሬ berberē) is a spice mixture whose ingredients usually include chile peppers, ginger, cloves, coriander, allspice, rue berries, and ajwain (also known as bishop's weed). It is a key ingredient in both Ethiopian cuisine and Eritrean cuisine. It is used to flavor the traditional stews known as wat.
