[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:BrechinDiocese.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:BrechinDiocese.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 06:48, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:DundasHouse.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:DundasHouse.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Longhair 04:12, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Kingdom of Scotland
Thanks for the praise. The Kingdom of Scotland article isn't a bad article. The omission is a little annoying because of my personal historical bias, but it just needs a little balance - and perhaps more of an indication that the map and the table pertains only to the Kingdom in its final centuries. There is already an article Kingdom of Alba. This article is just a daughter of the Scotland in the High Middle Ages article, and needs to be redone to be a proper article. Both the Scotland and Alba articles are actually about exactly the same topic, but differ in period focus. This may have to be fixed eventually, but at present at least fills the gap. We can sort all this out later. I'm going to remove the tag from that article for the present (and the map). - Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) 03:07, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request for edit summary
Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 6% for major edits and 13% for minor edits. (Based on the last 141 major and 149 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 18:30, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Please cite
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Ashley Judd, but we regretfully cannot accept original research. Please find and add a reliable citation to your recent edit so we can verify your work. Uncited information may be removed at any time. Thanks for your efforts, and happy editing! --Yamla 22:05, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] regarding your edits to Dundee
Please be careful when editing, your recent edits to this article while appreciated where quite problematic in a number of areas. for instance:-
- your edits to the universities section removed a number of references and footnotes. Note that per wikipedia:verifiability all information should be properly sourced. Please do not remove relevant references, they enable readers to double check facts and aid in research.
- A lot of your contributions duplicated material that was already in the article. For instance in the schools section you added a section that on the high school of Dundee even though there was already a paragraph on it earlier on in that section. in the media section you also duplicated mention of the city's radio stations even though they were already covered in the music section.
- sub articles - a lot of the material you added more properly belonged in sub-articles, for instance the history section under politics and government should have been covered in the main Politics of Dundee article first. the section that the main Dundee article should remain a summary of the former per Wikipedia:Summery style the same also applies to many of the areas of Dundee which I have helpfully moved to the appropriate articles
- Referencing - as the Dundee article is currently a featured article candidate it is important that information in it is well referenced. for example your sentence "As of February 2006, Median weekly earnings are £409, an increase of £33% since 1998, making them on a par with the Scottish median." should if possible be accompanied by a footnote (which you can read about at WP:FN) detailing where this figure comes from.
otherwise please don't let this put you off contributing. YDAM TALK 21:40, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
