Let's get this straight. At 30, she became abbess; then the church discovered she and another nun were lovers, and she was kept under guard for the next 50 years. 30+50=80. But she lived 1591-1661. So she was 70 years old when she died. Can't be. According to the publisher's weekly review of the book Immodest Acts which you can read on the Amazon page for the book (http://www.amazon.com/Immodest-Acts-Renaissance-History-Sexuality/dp/0195042255 ) "Carlini lost her position and was imprisoned for 35 years." - Gripdamage 22:02, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
