Talk:Ben Hale
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I now equate the Wikipedia "team" to a sad Home Owner's Association group where the members get little respect outside of their own little world. I've seen many listings with much less "value" to Wikipedia than Ben Hale. C'est la vie.
I believe this should remain because the man wrote and published his first book at 95 years old. He hosted a radio show in his 90's. He invited thousands of people, many of them influential men and women, to his 100th birthday party and inspired hundreds if not thousands of people to greatness - both financial wealth and community value. He inspired and will continue to inspire people to do the best they can with what they have. There is more to add to this article but you have to start somewhere, right?
Ben Hale was my uncle and my mentor. He lived to be 96 years old and recently published his first book. It is not my intention to post an article regarding a man known to tens of thousands of Americans so that he can sell 4 more books. It doesn't matter if he sells more books ... I believe he deserves the respect to be mentioned in Wikipedia.
- While I can imagine that you admired him, and know a lot about him, it would help a great deal if you could find reliable sources which mention his accomplishments. While you may know him well, most of our readers do not, and it's necessary that information be verifiable to someone who has not heard of him. I've had a look, but thus far have been able to find only an obituary and a few mentions of his book. You may find the biography notability guidelines helpful as well. One reason you won't find many postings on the web about Ben is that he retired from business life well prior to their being an Internet. There are several older print publications containing articles about him many of which are no longer in business and would have no reason to appear on a web page. Remember, the man was 96 years old. He's been "retired" for 20 years ... there was essentially no Internet in 1986 and certainly no web.
