I think I've rescued this article from the awful mess it was before. Different sources give different details about his Oscar nominations and awards though (I've even found individual sources that self-contradict!), so I hope what I have come up with is definitive. Incidentally, Jamestown, New York definitely could do with expanding as well! It appears, funnily enough, on the Jamestown disambig page, but there's not even a substub on the page itself. Once somebody puts something there, it would be worth mentioning this guy as a famous person born in Jamestown, NY, but for now that would just constitute an especially useless substub. --VivaEmilyDavies 00:24, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] who came up with the term "sound designer"

I think you'll find "sound designer" comes from Walter Murch, and not Ben Burtt... as documented elsewhere in wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_design

I've heard 2 competing stories:

It was back before Murch was in the union... so he couldn't get a regular sound editor credit, so he and Coppola used the term "sound designer".

.. or, Coppola thought Murch deserved a better credit.

take your pick.

[edit] Droids

Did he not also write some of the star wars cartoon of the mid 8-s Droids or was that a different Ben Burtt?
