Bentley Film Festival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bentley Film Festival, also called The Bentleys, is a film contest in which contestants submit unedited and undeveloped Super 8 film. It is a project of the Independent Filmmakers Coalition (IFC) of Kansas City.
For the Bentleys, each filmmaker must plan and shoot a 3-minute silent movie in sequence using Super 8mm film. Then, instead of giving film roll to an editor, the director must submit the undeveloped film, which the IFC will process and put on one reel with all other entries. The directors, along with the public, will see the films for the first time on Dec. 2, 2006.
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, the IFC will hold a seminar on shooting Super 8mm film and ways to enhance film screening with live or pre-recorded sound at the festival.
Entry Deadline: 8:30 pm, Wednesday, Nov. 15 at IFC meeting.
Entry Fee: $30 or $25 for IFC members and students; fee includes 50 feet of Super 8 mm film (color or B&W) plus film processing and one complimentary admission for the filmmaker to the screening.
Screening: 8 pm Saturday, Dec. 2 at Just Off Broadway Theater, 3011 Central (a little northeast of 31st and Broadway). Admission: $8 or $5 for IFC members or students with valid ID
