Benigno Aquino III

Benigno Simeón Cojuangco Aquino III (born 1960), also known by his nickname, Noynoy, is a Philippine politician and son of Benigno Aquino Jr., the popular opposition senator under the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos. He is also the son of former president Corazon Aquino. He is a congressman on his third and final term representing the second district of Tarlac province for the Liberal Party, and allied with the Phillipine political opposition.

Aquino was wounded during the 1987 failed coup attempt against his mother and was almost killed by a grenade. He ran for Congress as a representative of Tarlac and won in 1998. He again ran for reelection in 2001 and 2004 and won.

Television talk show host Kris Aquino is his sister.
