Benfleet railway station seves the town of South Benfleet in Essex, England. It is also the closest station to Canvey Island. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by c2c.

[edit] Station Layout

The Station is situated between Ferry Road and Station Road. The Main Building is on the Ferry Road side. This houses the Ticket Office. Entry and Exit to the Platforms is provided by four Automatic Ticket Gates. (ATG's)

On the Station Road side of the Building is a secondary Entrance/Exit which is used Monday - Friday during the AM and PM Peak Period, this is also has four ATG's

The Two Platforms are reached by fixed Staircases.

[edit] Ticket Office and Ticket Issuing Systems

The Ticket Office is open Monday - Saturday 05.15 - 22.00 and Sunday 06.15 - 22.00. It has four serving positions and uses the Tribute Ticket Issuing System.

The Station also has two Avantix Self Service Ticket Machines, a Fast Ticket Machine and a PERTIS Machine.

In early 2007 the Ticket Office is to be refurbished. The rebuild is set to last no more than 8 Weeks and will see a new front Ticket Office Counter, which will included one Lower Ticket Office Window for Wheelchair Customers. Within the Office itslef, A new Staff Restroom will be built and the Staff Toilets will also see a refurbishment.

The typical off-peak service frequency is:

  • 6tph (trains per hour) westbound to Fenchurch Street, of which:
    • 2tph do not stop at Pitsea, West Horndon or Limehouse
    • 2tph call at all stations via Basildon
    • 2tph take the longer route via Ockendon

The Station has Customer Toilets including a Disabled Toilet. The Cafe on Platform 1 is open during the AM Peak Period.

Ferry Road has Bus Stops serving Canvey Island and Benfleet. The Station also has a large Taxi Rank located on the Station Road side of the Building.
