Benabarre
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Benabarre (Aragonese: Benabarri, Catalan: Benavarri) is a town of the Aragonese comarca of Ribagorza in the province of Huesca, Spain.
Local Ribagorçan dialect is a variant of Catalan, which has some transitional traits to Aragonese.
Benabarre was the historical capital of the County of Ribagorza, which also included the valleys of Graus and Benasque and the comarca of Alta Ribagorça (capital Pont de Suert), now in the province of Lleida, Catalonia.
Nowadays, the more populous towns of Graus (capital of the Aragonese comarca) and Benasque have taken preeminence over Benabarre.
