From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ben Spies is a motorcycle racer from America who won the AMA Superbike Championship in 2006 (only the second time since 1999 that Mat Mladin has not won it). He took six successive wins early in the season, and staved off a late Mladin fightback to win the title by 649 points to 641. In total he took 7 poles and 17 podiums. [1].

Ben is from Memphis, Tennessee, born 11th July 1984, although as of 2006 he lives in Texas. He started racing in 125cc bikes in Texas as a teenager. In late 2000 he qualified on the front row for his debut in the AMA Supersport series. For the next 2 years he primarily raced Superstocks, although troubled by a knee injury [2]. He then joined the Yoshimura Suzuki factory team for 2003.
