Ben Dover (also known as Steve Perry) is the stage name of well-known English porn star and director/producer of pornographic movies Simon Lindsay Honey. The pseudonym is a pun on the phrase "bend over".

Dover used to work as an actor for Mike Freeman's Videx Ltd. In 1983 after police raid Freeman was remanded in custody and Lyndsay Honey became Steve Perry, later Ben Dover. He used the Videx equipment and mail order list to start off his business with Mike Freeman's permission. Mike Freeman was England's most successful pornographer at the time having released twenty one hour long uncensored films. The most famous of these being Truth or Dare, starring Lyndsay Honey and Paula Meadows. Mike Freeman was named as best erotic film director of the year for this film by Tuppy Owens the radical sex worker. At a later trial at the Old Bailey Freeman was acquitted along with Lyndsay, Sarah Bhaskaran and Kent Boulton.

He was originally a rock drummer for the Ian Mitchell Band. Incidentally, a T.V. critic once described him as looking like a lost member of the rock group Status Quo. He worked for many years with his girlfriend, the stripper and model Linzi Drew. After she retired at 41 to have their child, he developed his "Ben Dover" persona.

Ben is best known for his Ben Dover's: series, which he directed/produced and starred in between 1996 and 2002. The popular series featured young, amateur, British women in Gonzo, Hardcore and Anal scenes, which had been further edited for U.S. distribution by VCA Pictures to exclude the more graphic content that was originally included (e.g. ATM, DP).

In 1997 Ben was awarded the Breakthrough Award for the Ben Dover series by Adult Video News. He has also won AVN's Best Gonzo Award twice, in 2000 for Ben Dover's End Games and in 2002 for Ben Dover's The Booty Bandit.

It wasn't until 2004 that Ben again attempted U.S. distribution for his films, the previous 2 years had been spent producing movies exclusively for the European Market. He signed a deal with Kick Ass Pictures and began producing the Ben Dover's Kick Ass Anal Adventures series, that has, to date (2006) run 5 volumes long. This series was not edited beyond Ben's approval, they include ATM and DP scenes.

Ben was included in Larry Flynt's Hustler Magazine's Top 50 Most Influential People In Porn list, printed in the January 1999 issue.

He also has a line of adult toys bearing his moniker: The Ben Dover Signature line, which produces, among other products, The Ben Dover Realistic Penis and The Ben Dover Anal Kit.

Ben is close friends with British entertainer Roy Walker.

Some people have on occasion (rather inexplicably) mistaken him for the ventriloquist and former childrens T.V. presenter Keith Harris. This may be because they look alike, however this has yet to be confirmed objectively.

As well as his pornographic works, Ben has also acted in some non pornographic feature films, such as the horror/thriller, Deadly Intruder (1981), for which he also provided the incidental music. And also more notably the drama, The Last Resort (2000), in which he played the role of a low budget pornography producer.

In 2006, Ben Dover won the Lifetime Acheivement Award at the UK Adult Film Awards, in which he was also the presenter with Kristyn_Halborg, and Kelly_Stafford, along which lifelong friend and co-star Pascal_White
