Ben Claasen III

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ben Claassen III is a comics artist and illustrator who frequently works with non-traditional media such as stencils, long exposure photography, and the use of stop-motion animation via a Game Boy Camera. He is best known for his illustrations for Wil Wheaton's first book, Dancing Barefoot and for his weekly comic strip, DIRTFARM, which was created for Washington City Paper, an Alternative weekly paper, and is published alongside other cartoonists such as Derf and Lynda Barry.

A near-graduate of Louisiana State University, Claassen currently spends his time working on DIRTFARM, travelling, keeping a daily comic journal (published yearly), as well as dabbling in freelance illustration and design.

In addition to his other work, Claassen helps maintain Killoggs, a community for "displaced and disaffected Southern artists, animators, writers and wage slaves". He is concerned by many upcoming Southern comic artists to be a voice of their generation.
